How to Set Up a Lockdown Browser Experience on iPads Using Mosyle MDM

Using Mosyle MDM:

To configure Mosyle Business/School to add a Web Clip app that restricts student access exclusively to progresslearning.com and its necessary resources, follow these steps:

1. Create a Web Clip for Progress Learning

  1. Log into Mosyle Business/School.
  2. Go to Management > Profiles > Add New Profile.
  3. Select Web Clip and configure:
    • Name: Progress Learning
    • URL: app.progresslearning.com
    • Icon: Upload a custom icon (optional)
    • Full Screen Mode: Enabled
    • Allow Removal: Disabled
  5. Assign to the appropriate student devices or groups.

2. Configure Web Content Filtering (Whitelisting URLs)

To ensure students can only access necessary websites:

  1. Go to Management > Profiles > Add New Profile.
  2. Select Web Content Filter.
  3. Choose Allowed Websites Only mode.
  4. Add the following URLs from Progress Learning’s safelist:
    • *.progresslearning.com
    • *.learnosity.com
    • *.wistia.com
    • *fast.wistia.net
    • *.usatestprep.com
    • s3.amazonaws.com/learnositymediaprocessed
    • learnositymediaprocessed.s3.amazonaws.com
    • www.googletagmanager.com
    • www.google-analytics.com
    • https://firestore.googleapis.com
    • https://www.gstatic.com
    • https://cdn.worldvectorlogo.com/logos/google-classroom.svg

  6. Save and assign to student devices.

3. Restrict Other Browsers & Apps

To prevent students from bypassing restrictions:

  1. Go to Management > Profiles > Add New Profile.
  2. Select Restrictions and configure:
    • Disable Safari (if you want students only to use the Web Clip)
    • Block App Store (to prevent downloading alternative browsers)
    • Allow Only Approved Apps (if needed).
  4. Apply to student devices.

4. (Optional) Lock iPads to Progress Learning

If you want to force iPads to stay within Progress Learning, use Single App Mode:

  1. Go to Management > Profiles > Add New Profile.
  2. Select Single App Mode.
  3. Choose Safari (if using Web Clip) or the Progress Learning Web Clip.
  4. Deploy to devices.

Final Steps

  1. Test the setup on a student's iPad.
  2. Monitor device logs in Mosyle to ensure the filtering is working.
  3. Adjust settings if needed based on student behavior.
