Progress Learning + Lennections: What This Means for Georgia Educators

Progress Learning’s story starts in Georgia classrooms. We began as USATestprep in 1998, a small team of Georgia teachers working directly with schools to create state-aligned practice and assessments. As more schools came on board and our impact grew, we evolved into what is now Progress Learning, but we never left our Georgia home.
Our acquisition of Lennections is a continuation of that commitment: bringing together two Georgia-born organizations to better serve Georgia students and teachers.
The additional assessment tools that are now available as a result of the merger expand how districts assess student learning throughout the year with:
- Benchmark Assessments that mirror Georgia Milestones
- Unit Assessments aligned to Georgia Instructional units
- K-12 Assessment Solution Item Bank developed in partnership with the University of Georgia
The Benchmark and Unit Assessments are located in the Premium Assessments tab of your Assessment Bank.
Benchmark Assesslets (Milestones Practice Assessments)
Benchmark Assesslets are now called Milestones Practice Assessments. These are full length benchmark assessments designed to mirror the structure and blueprints of the Georgia Milestons. They provide students with meaningful practice using the types of questions and item formats they will encounter on state testing, while giving teachers clear insight into overall student readiness.
Benchmark Assessment Features
- Benchmark assessments that mirror the structure and blueprints of Georgia Milestones for ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
- Three benchmark assessments for each state-tested grade and subject (One included, two available for purchase).
- Technology-Enhanced Items (TEIs).
- Detailed reporting to measure overall student readiness for state assessments.
- For ELA: Option to purchase packages with writing assessments aligned to Interpreting and Constructing Texts standards.
- Writing responses are supported through flexible scoring options, including user-scoring, hand scoring (additional purchase), AI-assisted scoring (free).
Hand Scoring
- Hand scoring requires a start date at least 5 days after the assignment create date. Dates before that window are not selectable.
- If you select to have an activity hand scored, once selected this option cannot be changed.
- Progress Learning hand scored items are returned within six days of the administration window closing date, but may be returned sooner depending on the actual date of administration.
Unit Assesslets (Unit Assessments)
Unit Assesslets are now called Unit Assessments. These are unit-level assessments aligned to Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) instructional units and curriculum maps, allowing educators to monitor student learning throughout instruction.
These assessments are available across Math, Science, and Social Studies for all state-tested grades and courses:
- Math: Grades 3–8 and High School Algebra
- Science: Grades 5, 8, and High School Biology
- Social Studies: Grade 8 and High School U.S. History
Unit Assessment Features
- Pre- and post-tests for each unit following GaDOE curriculum maps.
- Three to five items per standard.
- Unique items including Technology-Enhanced Items (TEIs).
- Retake options available to support mastery.
- Detailed reporting to measure student growth across instructional units.
UGA Item Bank
Progress Learning already provides access to 200,000+ standards-aligned assessment items across core subjects, including College and Career Readiness courses.
With the addition of the University of Georgia (UGA) item bank, districts gain access to 19,000+ additional Georgia-aligned items, further expanding their assessment capabilities. These questions can be added to your assessments by way of the Question Bank in the Assessment Builder.

- Assign targeted remediation
- Build custom assessments
- Monitor student progress across classrooms, campuses, and districts

- How do I assign the ICT Writing Assessments with hand scoring for kids who were absent?
- Students should complete the original assignment (students are still able to access past due assignments). There is no need to duplicate or change any due dates.
